Chris Lynn anchored the Kolkata Knight Riders’ chase and scored 62 off 52 balls to seal a six-wicket victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru.

Lynn’s half-century – supported by cameos from Sunil Narine (27 off 19), Robin Uthappa (36 off 21) and Dinesh Karthik (23 off 10) – helped the visitors chase down their target with ease.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore were put in to bat first and got off to a decent start. Quinton de Kock and Brendon McCullum scored 29 and 38 respectively, but their wickets put the home side in a difficult position.

RCB were quickly reduced to 75-3 after 10 overs. Virat Kohli put in a captain’s performance to help the hosts to a decent total. He scored five fours and three sixes for his unbeaten 44-ball 66 as RCB posted a target of 176 – one run less than the total they posted the last time the teams met.

Once again, it’s the home side’s bowling attack that failed. They reduced the hosts to 139-3 halfway through the 17th over but conceded 37 runs in 15 balls to lose by six wickets.

Mohammed Siraj (2-40) gave the hosts brief hope in the 17th over dismissing Andrew Russell for a duck and Karthik, but it was not to be.

RCB now face a daunting task to reach the playoffs.
