Kagiso Rabada has been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth ODI in Cape Town on Tuesday.

The Proteas speedster, along with Sri Lankan opener Niroshan Dickwella, were fined 50 percent of their match fees and found guilty of ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact’.

The incident occurred during the 12th over, when they made contact with each other at the non-striker’s end after a single. Their actions were judged to be preventable.

No formal hearing was needed since both players pleaded guilty and accepted the sanctions proposed by Richie Richardson of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.

In addition to the fine, the players also received three demerit points, which were added to their disciplinary records.

Accumulating four or more demerit points during a 24-month period means these are converted to suspension points and the player responsible will then serve a ban.

Two suspension points convert to a ban from one Test, two ODIs or two T20Is, depending which comes first.
