AB de Villiers and Kagiso Rabada have dropped down the ICC rankings, after the Proteas’ disappointing exit from the Champions Trophy.

Just before the tournament, Rabada achieved the No 1 ODI bowlers’ ranking for the first time, but has since failed to impress in the tournament. De Villiers enjoyed a lengthy spell at the top of the ODI batsman rankings.

Both players will have to give up their positions after an early exit in the tournament in England, and a miserable defeat to the hosts prior to the tournament.

The Proteas were humiliated in the group stages, losing to Pakistan by 19 runs DLS and to India in their final match by eight wickets, to be eliminated from the tournament.

According to the ICC website,  Virat Kohli has moved to No 1 and Josh Hazlewood replaces Rabada, who has sunk to No 4. Imran Tahir has kept his ranking at No 2. De Villiers moves down to No 4, after recording scores of 4 and 0 in their two defeats.

Quinton de Kock (6th) and Faf du Plessis (7th) occupy the top 10, while Hashim Amla has moved down to 11th.
