Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi has revealed his real age in an autobiography.

There were always assumptions that the Pakistan all-rounder was much older than he claimed. In his new book ‘Game Changer’, he revealed that he was born in 1975 and not 1980 as his record states.

This means that Afridi was not 16 when he smashed a record-breaking 37-ball ODI century against Sri Lanka in Nairobi in 1996.

‘I was just nineteen, and not sixteen like they claim,’ Afridi wrote in the book title Game Changer. ‘I was born in 1975. So yes, the authorities stated my age incorrectly.’

But that claim of being 19 does not match up with his birth year, which he claims was 1975, making him 21 on that historic day.

His age at retirement would have been 35 from Test cricket in 2010, and 41 when he stepped off the T20 stage in 2016.
