The Blitzboks scored seven tries to hammer Malaysia 43-0 at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

South Africa were ruthless in their opening encounter in Gold Coast City, as they got their gold medal defence off to the perfect start.

From turnover possession, Dylan Sage opened the scoring and tries by Justin Geduld, Branco du Preez and Philip Snyman followed as the Blitzboks led 22-0 at half-time.

Malaysia couldn’t deal with the pace of South Africa and conceded three more tries in the second half.

Rosko Specman went from provider to scorer with a 50m run for a try in the corner. Geduld ghosted through Malaysia’s defensive line for his second of the match and Tim Agaba added his name to the scoresheet before the final whistle put Malaysia out of their misery.
