Bafana Bafana’s failure to qualify for the Fifa World Cup has seen them drop to their lowest world ranking since January 2013.
South Africa occupy 81st spot in the world rankings and haven’t seemed to make progress in their bid to reach Safa’s goal of a top-20 spot in world football and a top-three berth in Africa for the national team.
In other movements, Peru jumped into the top ten of the world rankings for the first time due to their decisive Fifa World Cup qualifiers, while France moved up one spot to seventh, England moved three spots to 12th and Senegal soared into 23rd position on the world standings – their highest-ever position.
