Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso feels that the Glamour Boys do not need another overhaul of players, after completing their second consecutive season without a trophy.

Steve Komphelaโ€™s men formed part of the title-chasing pack for a large part of the season, but faltered with six games left to be played in the campaign.

Cardoso, who made 17 appearances in all competitions, revealed that despite their lack of silverware the Soweto giants have made huge progressive strides in their squad.

โ€œGoing forward, yes we havenโ€™t won anything, but the team has come together compared to last season,โ€ he told reporters.

โ€œWe are better off than we were last season. We went on a 15-game unbeaten run.

โ€œWe gelled better. The players grew to know Steveโ€™s philosophy and his training methods,โ€ he added.

The former Free State Stars man also suggested that Chiefs should not look to acquire many players during the transfer window,  for fear of taking too long to adapt to their football philosophy.

โ€œIf we bring in one or two players they will learn and adapt quickerโ€ฆ not eight like it was this season.

โ€œIf we can keep the same squad we will win some trophies. We brought in eight players and they had to adjust and learn, but I think they picked up pretty quick,โ€ he concluded.

Chiefs face champions Bidvest Wits in their final Absa Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with kickoff set for 15:00.
