Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise says his side ‘will never be underdogs’, despite Orlando Pirates’ dominance in the MTN8.

The Tshwane giants are scheduled to face the Buccaneers in the final when they square off at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Sundowns will look to snatch the top-eight title away from Pirates as they have won the title in the last four seasons.

Mkhulise insists Sundowns’ pedigree, strong leadership and quality within the squad mean they will never consider themselves underdogs, regardless of the opposition.

“Heading into this game, I think we do have some sort of advantage and upper hand because we recently won a trophy,” Mkhulise said.

“Mamelodi Sundowns will never be underdogs, so that alone will always give us an edge against our opponents. We have the best leadership, coaches and players in the club so we will always have an advantage.”
