Mpho Padime has urged aspiring young footballers to remain patient and committed to their dreams, drawing from his own rise at Orlando Pirates.
Padime has an impressive run with Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge, having won the DDC title, where he scored 10 goals and registered nine assists, while being named DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season.
The 19-year-old’s standout performance for the DDC team earned him promotion to the Buccaneers senior team.
Although Padime has been impressive for Pirates, he has been under criticism by head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou for showboating.
The teenage forward says the support and competition around him have motivated him to keep working hard, while reminding players coming through the eKasi ranks that they never know who might be watching.
“For me the last few months I have been happy and those ahead of me are pushing me to work hard and other things will come,” Padime said.
“What I can [say] to them is that don’t give up, work hard and playing eKasi doesn’t mean you are no one because you never know who is watching and where you will end up,” he said.
“So, keep working hard and God will always help you.”
