Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Dillon Sheppard praised debutant goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner following his performance against Golden Arrows.

The 28-year-old finally made his debut for Amakhosi in the goalless draw against Arrows, since making the move from Sekhukhune United.

The Glamour Boys were forced to share the spoils with Arrows after playing out to their second straight draw in the Betway Premiership.

The draw sees Amakhosi remain in fourth place with 13 points from seven matches, while Arrows stay in eighth position with eight points from seven matches.

Sheppard highlighted Leaner’s leadership and crucial saves in helping Amakhosi secure a clean sheet.

“He was very good. He showed leadership at the back and made a couple of crucial saves to keep us in the game,” Sheppard told his club’s official website.

“You know, that’s why we have a squad. When players get injured, other players come in and take their chance.

“I’m very happy for him. He has come in confident with the right attitude and, as you saw, he kept a clean sheet.”
