Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz wants his side to become more ruthless in the final third following their victory over Siwelele FC.

The Glamour Boys returned to winning ways following their 3-2 win over Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership.

A brace by Mfundo Vilakazi and a goal from Wandile Duba cancelled out goals from Aphiwe Baliti and Michel N’Guessan at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

The win sees Chiefs remain in third place in the league standings with 11 points from their first five matches.

Da Cruz admits there are still defensive concerns to address, with leadership, character and personality among the key areas he wants to see improved.

“In the first half, we created a lot of chances, but we didn’t score enough and in the second half we had two chances and score two goals, so we have an issue about that,” Da Cruz told SuperSport after the game.

“We need to work a lot on our defensive part to not give chances to the opponent.

“We created a lot of chances, but we didn’t score so after that you can make mistakes because you’re not enough killer in the two boxes as either offensively and defensively.

“We have a lack of leadership, lack of character in our defensive line, a lack of personality in our defensive line so we need to correct that and work a lot.”
