Rugby royalty has landed in Durban, with All Blacks legend Ma’a Nonu officially arriving at the Hollywoodbets Sharks.

The 44-year-old joins the sharks after signing a short-term deal with the South African outfit.

The two-time Rugby World Cup winner was formally welcomed by the Sharks and presented with his trademark No. 12 jersey.

His key responsibility will be to drive player development in collaboration with the coaching staff, helping to build and reinforce a strong high-performance culture within the team.

He will play a key role in mentoring the club’s next generation of outside backs, helping to develop their skills and prepare them for the demands of the professional game.

Although appointed primarily as a mentor and coach, Nonu will remain available for playing duties if called upon.

“The Sharks are one of the world’s most iconic rugby clubs and Durban has always been a special place for me to travel to,” Nonu said.

“One of my earliest away matches in Super Rugby was played here, and I’ve carried fond memories of this city and its passionate rugby fans ever since.

“I have immense respect for JP. We competed against each other for many years, and I’m looking forward to working with him and the team.

“This is a great opportunity to give back to the game. Working alongside the future stars of our sport is exciting, and I’m looking forward to doing everything I can to help the club during my time there.”
