Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz insists the club’s primary objective is to challenge for silverware while making a strong start in the Betway Premiership.
Amakhosi are set to take on newly-promoted Kruger United in their opening Betway Premiership encounter at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
The Soweto giants will go into this match high in confidence after recently lifting the Toyota Cup during their pre-season preperations.
The Amakhosi mentor believes the squad is full of confidence and determined to build on that momentum as they look to restore the club to winning ways.
“Our ambition is to win trophies this season, for sure, because we are a big club with history,” Da Cruz said.
“We have a lot of ambitions, but our first step is to start very well in the championship.
“After that, during the season, we will take it step by step to do our best and win trophies
“We won the Toyota Cup and we are in a positive dynamic, players are confident and we want to spread this dynamic to improve our level and results.”
