Banyana Banyana Head Coach Dr Desiree Ellis insists they made life difficult for themselves during their defeat to Tanzania in their WAFCON opener.

South Africa did not get the start they wanted in the WAFCON after suffering a 2-1 defeat in the opening match of the competitions.

Banyana will look to bounce back and return to winning ways when they take on Ivory Coast in their second group stage encounter at the Stade Moulay Rachid.

Ellis lamented that the goals they conceded were avoidable and ultimately proved decisive.

“Goals win games, we knew what Tanzania was going to do, but the two goals we conceded were poor,” Dr Ellis told SAFA.

“They had two chances and they scored them and won the game.

“I said before the match that it was going to be a very difficult match, but we also made life difficult for ourselves.”
