Erling Haaland has described his extraordinary finishing ability as a “gift from God”, with the Norway striker admitting he is still amazed by how often his shots find the perfect spot.

Haaland netted a brace to help Norway beat Brazil 2-1 in the Last 16 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

He has now taken his goal tally up to seven goals after guiding his side to the quarter-finals, where they will now take on England on Saturday.

The prolific striker also spoke passionately about representing his country, urging the next generation to cherish the opportunity to wear the Norway jersey and describing it as the greatest honour of his career.

“That’s just how it usually goes. If I get a chance or two, it usually ends up as a goal,” Haaland told FIFA.

“I don’t know how I do it, but that’s how I do it, so it’s all about staying focused.

“I tell myself the chance will come, and then I usually know right away if I don’t score.

“I’m starting to realise now, I think, that it’s a gift from God that it goes in perfectly, perfectly right up against the post and stuff. So it’s crazy.

“We just kept pushing forward, but I hope that all the young people watching this interview—I hope that when you get a little older, you’ll see playing for Norway as the proudest thing you’ll ever do in your entire life—it’s absolutely insane.”
