Argentina playmaker Nico Paz has praised Lionel Messi’s greatness, saying the legendary forward continues to amaze even at this stage of his career.
Messi came off the bench to get his name on the scoresheet as Argentina secured a 3-1 victory over Jordan in their final World Cup Group J match.
The 39-year-old extended his goalscoring streak to seven consecutive matches, setting a new record and surpassing the previous mark of six, which he had shared with Just Fontaine and Jairzinho.
The Argentine captain further enhanced his all-time scoring record, taking his tally to 19 goals with a strike in the group’s final match against Jordan.
Paz insists that the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to defy age and expectations by producing moments of magic whenever he steps onto the pitch.
“We already know what Messi is like. In the end, he’s the best in history. He always surprises you with something new,” said Paz.
“At his age, he still has something new to show, and today he did it again. He came on for a while, we’d been missing that, and I’m very happy for him.”
