Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng has expressed unwavering belief in South Africa’s ability to continue their historic World Cup journey, insisting the squad will fight relentlessly to progress as far as possible in the tournament.
Mofokeng once again showcased why he is regarded as one of South Africa’s brightest young talents, delivering an energetic and influential performance against Korea Republic.
The dynamic winger constantly troubled the opposition defence with his pace, close control and direct running, while his creativity in the final third helped Bafana Bafana maintain an attacking threat throughout the encounter.
Mofokeng’s relentless work rate, both in attack and defence, epitomised the fighting spirit displayed by Hugo Broos’ side as they secured a historic place in the World Cup knockout stages.
“We will fight to go as far as possible,” Mofokeng told FIFA.
“We truly believe in our ability to achieve this; we will trust in God and give everything we have to get where we want to be.
“International football is the pinnacle, and as a national team player, you have to evolve constantly. Continuous improvement is essential, both as a player and as a person.
“You must learn from past mistakes to sharpen up for the next match; failing to do so only leads to defeat. We grew into the tournament game by game, and that is what matters most in football.
“South African football is evolving season after season.
“This generation is truly incredible. I believe I am playing alongside some of the best players in the world; their performances are outstanding, and the majority of us play domestically.”
