Seleção are set to take on DR Congo in their World Cup Group K opener at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
All eyes will be on Fernandes and Ronaldo as they look to begin their campaign with a positive result.
Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes has spoken of the privilege of sharing a dressing room with captain Cristiano Ronaldo, revealing that many of Portugal’s players grew up watching the legendary forward.
Fernandes also expressed confidence in the Seleção’s chances at the FIFA World Cup, praising the squad’s blend of individual quality and team unity while insisting they are determined to support Ronaldo and pursue their dream of lifting football’s biggest prize.
“All of us in this national team we have grown up watching Cristiano Ronaldo play and for us it’s such an honour to play next to him now in the same team,” Fernandes said.
“We’re all here to support him and to support Portugal to go as far as possible.
“We have a very strong team, great individual quality, and beyond the individual quality and the strengths that we have as individual players, I think we are a very cohesive team, a very united team,” added Fernandes.
“Obviously our dream is to be there (winning the World Cup) and I think that dreaming is not forbidden.”
