Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has spoken about the importance of star Lionel Messi ahead of their FIFA World Cup Group J opener against Algeria.
The 38-year-old is taking part in his sixth World Cup after guiding his side to the trophy in the last global showpiece in Qatar.
Argentina are set to take on the African giants when they meet at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
Scaloni expressed confidence in Messi’s condition and influence, insisting that the Argentine icon remains central to the team’s ambitions as they prepare for another major tournament challenge.
“Everyone wants to see him out on the pitch, not just Argentinians, because of the impact he has on people,” Scaloni said.
“He has always been crucial for us and now he will be even more so. He looks good.”
