Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has praised the remarkable maturity of Relebohile Mofokeng, suggesting he could become captain of the Buccaneers.
The 21-year-old has been sensational since being promoted to the senior team on August 4, 2023.
Mofokeng has racked up 29 goals and registered 30 assists in 120 appearances across all competitions for the Buccaneers.
He could be in line to add to his tally when Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs in the much-anticipated Soweto derby on Sunday.
Ncikazi suggested Mofokeng already possesses leadership qualities beyond his years and could be given the responsibility of the captain armband.
“The boy [Relebohile Mofokeng] is so mature for a youngster, you wouldn’t think somebody his age,” Ncikazi told the media.
“If it wasn’t for any other thing, you can even give him the responsibility of a captain, although this one [Nkosinathi Sibisi] is doing so well. So, he’s in that mode.”
