Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso described reaching the CAF Champions League final as a major milestone in his coaching journey.

Sundowns booked their place in the CAF Champions League final after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Espérance de Tunis at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The Tshwane giants defeated Espérance de Tunis 2–0 on aggregate over the two legs to book their place in the final.

They will now meet the Moroccan side AS FAR over two legs in the final, scheduled for Friday, 15 May and Sunday, 24 May.

The Portuguese mentor also took a moment to dedicate the achievement to his family back home, expressing gratitude for their support, while quickly shifting focus to the challenges ahead as Sundowns prepare for their next domestic assignment.

“This is a milestone of achievement in a career of a coach so when we came to Africa, we had a dream and we’ve been making it objective, objective, day-by-day working very hard,” Cardoso told SABC Sport after the match.

“I dedicate this to my family in Portugal, to my grandpa and grandma. My mother who suffered so much, my wife and son, my brother to my newborn or newbie, so many words of thanks to everything.

“It’s a long time to ravel this for all of us now let’s look forward there’s already Championship match on Wednesday.”
