Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has acknowledged the intensity of the title race, describing it as a positive spectacle for South African football.

The Buccaneers secured back-to-back wins in the Betway Premiership following their 5-0 victory over Golden Arrows at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto.

Pirates are keeping the pressure on log leader Mamelodi Sundowns and are now two points behind the Brazilians.

The Soweto giants are currently sitting in second place in the Betway Premiership standings with 54 points from 23 matches.

Ouaddou is reaffirming his side’s determination to fight until the very end of the season.

“It’s difficult, we have two teams now fighting, I think it’s very good for the South African league,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV after the game.

“For me, I always said it’s the best in Africa so the fans deserve to have this race until the end and to have interest because if there’s no interest in football people lose it and are now interested anymore.

“So yeah, it’s good to have even a tough time for the team but let’s see what happens at the end of the season.

“It’s something I told you until the last second we will be here (laughs).”
