Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso is backing Iqraam Rayners following a difficult spell while welcoming the timely impact made by Monnapule Saleng.

The Brazilians claimed a convincing 3–1 victory over Sekhukhune United F.C., with Marcelo Allende opening the scoring before Iqraam Rayners struck twice to seal the win at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The victory lifted Sundowns level on 41 points with log leaders Orlando Pirates F.C. after 18 matches in the Betway Premiership.

Cardoso highlighted the importance of trust and unity in his squad after their latest outing.

“Iqraam had a not so good moment, we all know, he knows, but he knows we trust and trust is shown in the right moment,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV after the game.

“So, instead we stick together, we knew the right moment would appear and he had to be ready. I’m so happy for the team and him also.

“For Saleng that comes in such a difficult moment and for everybody of course.”
