Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze welcomed the victory but acknowledged a slow start before highlighting a far more assertive second-half performance that turned the tide in their favour.

Amakhosi made it three straight wins across all competitions following their 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants thanks to a 66th-minute goal from Makabi Lilepo at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.

The Glamour Boys have now moved up to second place in the Betway Premiership standings with 30 points, two points off log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs will be hoping to continue their current form when they host ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

“We are happy for the three points. I believe that we didn’t start the game well,” Kaze told SuperSport TV after the game.

“The first half was a bit sloppy, little bit reactive. We had to tell the players that we really want the three points, we need to go out there and get on the front-foot and I believe the second half was much, much better and what a goal.

“What a goal, we are very happy to get the three points and we now going to focus on our CAF Confederation Cup game on Sunday.”
