South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus has used social media to suggest that attack coach Tony Brown is going nowhere amid reports he could be targeted for a role with New Zealand’s All Blacks.
Brown has been integral in developing a new style of play for the Springboks that made them the stand-out national team in 2025 and early favourites to win a third Rugby World Cup title in a row in 2027.
But with the sacking of Scott Robertson as All Blacks coach this week, there have been suggestions that Brown could be lured back to his homeland in a shake-up of their technical team.
That would be a huge boost to the ailing All Blacks and a blow to the Springboks, but Erasmus has poured cold water on the suggestion.
He took to X (formerly Twitter) with a picture of Brown holding a microphone and the caption ‘I’m not leaving’.
Erasmus wrote on the post: “Today is a great day!! Sleep Lekka (good).”
Brown has transformed the way the Springboks use their attack and been roundly praised for turning them into a more potent team with ball in hand.
Erasmus has said several times that the Springboks will not win the next World Cup playing the same style as they did in 2019 and 2023, which is why he brought Brown on board in 2024.
