Chicago Fire have added a second South African to their team, signing winger Puso Dithejane from TS Galaxy on an extended contract for the next four years.
The 21-year-old’s deal includes an option for the 2030-31 season.
“In welcoming Puso to Chicago, we’re adding one of South Africa’s best young, attacking players to our team,” Fire head coach Gregg Berhalter said.
“His dynamic energy will add depth to our squad this season, while also setting the foundation for him to continue developing and strengthening the team for many seasons to come.”
Dithejane joins Bafana Bafana defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who was signed in November, and his acquisition is likely to have something to do with helping Mbokazi settle in at the new club, who began pre-season training on Monday.
Chicago begin the 2026 Major League Soccer season with an away game against Houston Dynamo on February 21.
TS Galaxy have now sold two players in a matter of days with the 21-year-old Khulumani Ndamane moving to champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
