Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena has expressed the squad’s excitement ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations clash against Cameroon, stressing their desire to improve on their previous third-place finish and ready themselves for a tough challenge on the pitch.

South Africa and Cameroon are scheduled to go head-to-head on Sunday when they meet at the Stade El Barid in Rabat, with kick-off set for 9pm.

Bafana made their way to this stage of the competition after finishing in second place in Group B with six points.

Cameroon, meanwhile, secured their spot in the knockout stage after they finished in second position in Group F, with seven points.

The two sides will now battle it out for a place in the quarter-finals, where the winner will take on the winner between Morocco and Tanzania.

“Of course, as a team we are excited about the game tomorrow,” said Mokoena.

“The talk we are having (as players) is that we must do better than we did in the last AFCON (Bafana Bafana finished third with a bronze medal).

“We know that it is going to be a tough game against Cameroon, but we’re looking forward to it.”
