Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster says winning the Man of the Match award was secondary to walk away with maximum points.

Foster got his name on the scoresheet as Bafana went on to secure a 2-1 win over Angola at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco.

The win sees Bafana placed in second place in Group B, level on points with first-placed Egypt after their opening match.

Foster admits that the win and claiming all three points was more important than winning the Match of the Match award.

“It’s a nice trophy [MOTM award] but most importantly we needed the three points today,” Foster said in his post-match interview on SABC Sport.

“Tough first half. I think we started the game well, afterwards we grew into it.

“So, we had to be very hard at half-time to be honest with ourselves.

“Second half we came out, I think we showed a different team, we got the winning goal.

“Thank God. Happy now, now we move on to the next one.”
