Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has praised the impact of substitute Tshepang Moremi in their win over Angola in their Africa Cup of Nations opener on Monday.
Goals from Oswin Appollis and Lyle Foster saw South Africa secure a 2-1 victory over the Red Devils.
Broos admits he was not happy with his team’s first-half performance but they made up for it with a good second-half showing.
“We tried to avoid that one [losing] because if we should have lost again today and then we have the game against Egypt you are big in trouble,” Broos told SABC Sport after the match.
“I wasn’t pleased with the game we played in the first half. At just a moment we led 1-0 then we fell asleep, we let Angola come in back in the game.
“So, we put something right during half-time and you see the second half we make more pressure, there is more movement in the team and then we have chances and this is what I want.
“Tshepang did a wonderful come in the team, suddenly there was speed in our team, he was dangerous he scored a goal with an offside, I don’t know what happened there.
“But he was a threat for Angolans, and he did well for the 45 minutes he played.”
