Stellenbosch FC have strengthened their squad by announcing the signing of right-back Wayde Jooste.
The 34-year-old joins the Maroons as a free agent after he parted ways with AmaZulu in July this year.
Jooste has scored eight goals and registered 10 assists in 201 appearances across all competitions, playing for the likes of Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows, Highlands Park, Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg United, and AmaZulu.
The Gqeberha-born right-back could be in line to make his debut when Stellies take on Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership on 20 January 2026.
“Stellenbosch is a Club that I have admired for some time,” Jooste said.
“It’s a Club that has been very successful in the last few seasons and it’s special for me to become part of that.
“A few weeks ago, I got a call from coach Steve, and he asked me if I would be interested, and I don’t even think he finished his question before I said yes.
“I’ve been praying and believing that something will come up for me, and something as good as this I could never say no to. I’m honoured and privileged to be part of the Club.”
Stellenbosch FC released the following statement on the matter, which reads:
Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of South Africa international defender Wayde Jooste on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old arrives in Stellenbosch with more than 200 professional appearances to his name across previous spells with Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows, Highlands Park, Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg United, and AmaZulu.

Jooste could be in line to make his debut for Stellenbosch FC when the team returns to action to take on Sekhukhune United on 20 January 2026.
