Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi says he will not disappoint as he embarks on his new journey in his career in the United States.

The 20-year-old has joined Major League Soccer outfit Chicago Fire after signing a deal that will see him remain at the club until 2029, with a club option for the 2029-30 season.

Mbokazi played his final game for Pirates after helping them to lift the Carling knockout Cup following their 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Bafana Bafana defender says he is grateful for the time he spent at the Buccaneers and insists he will fly the flag high when he eventually joined Chicago Fire.

“I want to thank my teammates — we were able to win this game together,” Mbokazi told SuperSport TV after the match.

“I also want to assure everyone that I won’t disappoint wherever I’m going. Thank you.”
