South Africa needed a win against Zimbabwe but they were forced to settle for a goalless draw at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

What did not play in their favour was the fact that Benin beat Rwanda 1-0 in Kigali, while Nigeria beat Lesotho 2-1 in Polokwane.

Benin find themselves sitting at the top of the Group C standings with 17 points, followed by Bafana in second with 15 points and Nigeria in third with 14 points after nine matches.

But what does Bafana Bafana need to qualify?

South Africa will need to win their final match against Rwanda but will also need other results to go their way.

They will need Nigeria to beat Benin by three goals or more, which will see both Bafana and Nigeria qualify.

However, Benin will qualify for the World Cup if Bafana played to a draw against Rwanda.
