South African striker Cassius Mailula has completed a season-long loan move to Belgian outfit KV Kortrijk.
The Belgian second division side announced the signing of Mailula on a season-long loan move from Major League Soccer side Toronto FC, with an option to buy on a permanent transfer.
Mailula brings experience, having played for Mamelodi Sundowns, Wydad Casablanca and Toronto FC.
“Mailula is an offensive player who can play in multiple positions. He played at the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, where he also scored,” explains Nils Vanneste, Sporting Director at KVK.

KV Kortrijk confirmed in an official statement on their website:
KV Kortrijk is pleased to announce the arrival of South African Cassius Mailula (24). The quick and agile attacking midfielder will join our club until the end of the season. KV Kortrijk has also secured a purchase option.
Mailula, originally from Ga-Molepo in South Africa’s Limpopo province, reached the professional level through the prestigious Mamelodi Sundowns academy. In his breakthrough season (2022-23), he scored nine goals in 17 league games and was named Young Player of the Season in the South African top flight.
In July 2023, he moved abroad: he signed with Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. In 2024, he was loaned to Moroccan top club Wydad Athletic Club , where he scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists.
Mailula has also made strides at the international level : in 2023, he made his debut for the South African national team. He is also known as a versatile attacker: deployable as a center forward, shadow striker, and on the wings.
