Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has opened up on his time at the club after leading the team to glory in the Nedbank Cup.

The Glamour Boys ended their decade-long trophy drought after claiming a 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates in the final of the Nedbank Cup.

Amakhosi took the lead in the 10th minute through a penalty converted by Gaston Sirino before Pirates equalised through Evidence Makgopa in the 17th minute.

Chiefs captain Maart rose to the challenge and netted the winning goal for his side with a 80th minute volley that saw Amakhosi secure a 2-1 victory at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban

The 29-year-old midfielder has reflected back on his first three seasons with the club and how his hard work has paid dividends on the pitch.

“I became aware of how much it meant when I joined the club, and it wasn’t easy because of the pressure of knowing what is expected at Kaizer Chiefs,” Maart told his club’s official website.

“But I have worked my hardest from the first day. My first two seasons were not easy but now in my third season, we have been rewarded with something great, which is something I deeply appreciate.”
