Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro believes his side showed “a lot of courage” to secure a victory over Golden Arrows on Tuesday evening.
The Buccaneers secured back-to-back victories in the Betway Premiership after their 2-1 win over Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The win sees Pirates remain in second place on the table with 52 points, they are now 12 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, having played two games less.
Riveiro says his side did not let fatigue get the better of them, despite playing two games in three day.
“Tough and difficult to play, for different reasons,” Riveiro told SuperSport after the game.
“We struggled a little bit in the first half with the high-pressing from Arrows. I think they did an extra-ordinary effort in the first half. I think the effort in the second half, we were much better.
“We managed to find a different solutions in our build up and due to that we manage to take the lead and we concede one goal when nothing was really happening on the field at that time, but they show a lot of courage in the last part of the game.
“If you think about the amount of fatigue that they have been accumulating in the season. A lot of players come into the starting eleven for the first time, it’s not easy to compete here in this circumstances and I think the team showed we came here to play serious, to get the three points and I’m so happy to see them performing like that.”
