Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has opened up about competing with Sekhukhune United for a top-three finish in the Betway Premiership.

The Maroons currently find themselves sitting in fourth place on the table with 44 points, having won 12 games, drawn eight and conceded five defeats in 25 matches.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune are in third place on the table with 45 points after winning 13 games, drawing six and suffering eight defeats in 27 matches.

Barker believes the battle for a place in the top three between Stellies and Sekhukhune will go down to the last few games of the season.

“It will go down to the last game of the season, I’m sure,” Barker told his club’s official website.

“They are also playing well and picking up results.

“Both teams are applying pressure on each other, so I do think it will go all the way down to the wire.”

Stellies will now turn their attention to their upcoming Betway Premiership encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns when the two sides meet at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
