Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was full of praise for his side after hammering Chippa United at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The Glamour Boys ended their four-game winless run by cruising to a comfortable 4-0 victory over the Chilli Boys.
A first-half brace from Keagan Dolly and second-half goals from Khama Billiat and Lazarous Kambole earned Amakhosi three points on home soil and moved them up to eighth place on the log with nine points after seven games.
Baxter felt that the scoreline did not reflect the true performance of both sides on the day, stating that it should have been a โcloserโ game than it was.
โI thought the lads played well tonight,โ Baxter told SuperSport TV after the game.
โIt was probably a closer game than 4-0. We decided in the second half we would play deeper. We invited a few crosses. When you take your chances and donโt miss chances and when you prevent your opponent instead of giving the opponent those moments I was speaking out before the game.
โThis is what can happen. If thereโs a mental shift, then thereโs a momentum shift. And then Keagan Dolly believes heโs going to score a goal. He said heโs been snatching at it. Iโm very pleased with the way they played.
โWe work all the summer on our attacking play and the movement around the box. I think our movement around the box was especially good tonight. It was probably what Chippa had most problems with. The mobility, the speed the lads were moving at. And if weโd done it more there were probably and I donโt want to be bad-mannered but there were probably a few more goals for us in that respect on transition.โ
He added: โFor them to get on the scoresheet, itโs great for their confidence. Confidence breeds confidence. We said we should concentrate on our performances.
โWe shouldnโt concentrate on everything that is said or speculated. And thatโs what the boys did and they did it very well and Iโm very pleased in that respect,โ he concluded.
