Cristiano Ronaldo proved his worth to Real Madrid once again as the Portuguese inspired his side to a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Sporting Lisbon.

Real looked certain to suffer a shock defeat at the Bernabeu as with time running out the side still trailed an early second-half goal from Sporting’s Bruno Cesar.

However, when Real were awarded a free kick with just minutes of normal time remaining, Ronaldo was on hand to fire home the free kick to breath life into his side. The turnaround was completed in extra time as Alvaro Morata snatched a last-ditch winner.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match centre, Ronaldo managed 50 touches of the ball in his 90 minutes on the pitch, during which time he made 28 of his 33 passes. The Portuguese also hit four shots in the match, two of which were on target, including his goal.

Ronaldo also won five of the 10 duels he contested as his never-say-die attitude helped turn the game on its head.
