Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo has revealed that he has his sights set on a top eight finish in the Absa Premiership this season.

The Urban Warriors are currently placed 11th in the Absa Premiership standings with 19 points, having won just five out of 18 matches played so far this season.

Menzo has confirmed that the Urban Warriors main objective is to accumulate enough points to remain clear of the relegation zone but insists that his side have to aim for a top eight or top four finish in the Absa Premiership this season.

‘The first goal is to have enough points to make sure we are clear of relegation, the moment that is secured we will start to look up [the log standings],’ Menzo told the Ajax Cape Town website.

‘Yes, I want to finish in the top eight, I want to finish in the top four, but we must make the first step first and that is what we have to do.

‘We came from a situation where we were second to last in the league and at that moment we weren’t thinking about position eight, we had some good results, but don’t get confused about results as things can change quickly.’

Ajax Cape Town will now welcome Kaizer Chiefs to Athlone Stadium when the two side’s meet in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 20:15.
