Chippa United have confirmed that head coach Dan Malesela has been hospitalised after complaining of a pain in his back on Sunday.

Malesela did not travel with the squad to East London for the Absa Premiership clash against Bidvest Wits at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Tuesday.

However, the Chilli Boys were forced to share the spoils with the Clever Boys after playing out to a goalless draw in their Absa Premiership encounter.

‘He is recovering well at the hospital in Port Elizabeth, where doctors have run a few tests on him,’  The Chippa United website confirmed.

‘The Executive Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi, Management, Technical Staff, Players and the Club in its entirety would like to wish “Dance” a speedy recovery.’

The Chilli Boys are currently placed ninth in the Absa Premiership standings with 23 points and have won only five of 21 matches played so far this season.

Chippa United will turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup next when they take on Witbank Spurs on March 15.

The match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
