Cape Town City midfielder Mpho Makola has been handed a six-month ban after he was found guilty of assaulting match official Abongile Tom during the Telkom Knockout match against Kaizer Chiefs.

The former Orlando Pirates man inexplicably man handled the match official during their game against Chiefs at the Cape Town Stadium in the Telkom Knockout latst-16 encounter played on the 19th of October after the referee awarded Amakhosi a penalty for hand ball.

The Premier Soccer League revealed the decision on Friday morning stating that the player was found guilty for assaulting the match official and brining the game the league into disrepute.

Makola was also ordered to pay the full cost of the hearing.
