Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande believes his side are in the right frame of mind ahead of their Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates.

The Glamour Boys are set face long-standing rivals Pirates when they square off in the quarter-finals of the Telkom Knockout Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi will be hoping to book their place in the semi-finals of the knockout competition and end their four-year trophy drought.

However, the experienced midfielder admits that Amakhosi are in for a difficult game and has urged his side to be mentally strong in the hope of grinding out a positive result.

‘The mood in the camp is better than it has been in the past. We are all working hard to try and get a positive result in the derby,’ Katsande told the media.

‘We have met a few times in the TKO in the past and they beat us last season, but like I said, we are in a better frame of mind and we will do our best to advance to the next round.

‘I have played in 27 derbies and I can tell you that it’s a difficult game. You need to be mentally strong to stand any chance of winning.’

Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates kicks off at 3pm.
