Former SuperSport United captain Dean Furman has sent a heartfelt message to the supporters after ending his stay in South Africa with Matsatsantsa.

The club confirmed the departure of the Bafana Bafana midfielder on Monday, following a successful five-year spell in the Absa Premiership.

The 31-year-old has since bid his farewell on social media after confirming his decision to move back to the United Kingdom.

‘Following the statement by SuperSport United, I would like to confirm that I have left the club in order to be closer to my family,’ Furman wrote.

‘It has been the most incredible five years living and playing in South Africa.

‘On the pitch, it was a huge honour to captain SuperSport United and lift four trophies in a hugely successful period for the club.

‘Off the pitch, I’ve met so many wonderful people, loved the great interactions with the fans and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful country.

‘I would to thank Stan Matthews and the board at SSU for giving me the opportunity to play for the club, coach Kaitano and my previous coaches, along with the staff, the many players I have had the honour of sharing the dressing room with and our brilliant Matsatsatsa fans.

‘I wish you all safety and good health during these uncertain times and hope to come back and visit soon,’ he concluded.
