Ubuntu Cape Town has announced that talented young defender Luke Fleurs has signed for SuperSport United.

It was reported that Matsatsantsa was interested in the 18-year-old in an attempt to refresh their ageing squad before the next season.

Fleurs impressed during Ubuntu’s Nedbank Cup run, playing a big role in them reaching the quarter-finals before losing to eventual winners Free State Stars on penalties.

This caught the attention of SuperSport United and it has now been announced that he will join up with the Pretoria-based club.

Fleurs told Ubuntu’s official website, ‘I am excited for this new challenge because it was always my dream to play in the PSL, and especially to play alongside players like Morgan Gould and Clayton Daniels who I’ve looked up to as a youth player.

‘My time at Ubuntu has been a really good experience for the past six years, and they have done a lot for me, providing a quality school and football education and especially keeping me on the right road.

‘Ubuntu is about more than football, and they have challenged me to live well and to be a leader, which I hope to live up to. I can only thank God, the Ubuntu family, and of course the Fleurs family, for all they have done to make this possible for me, and Supersport United for believing in me too.’

Fleurs is believed to have signed a three-year deal with a two-year option.
