Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus wants to try to build on last season’s performance and add more silverware to their cabinet in the new season.

The 31-year-old managed to find the net on six occasions and assisted a further seven goals from 26 appearances in all competitions last season.

Erasmus was also part of the Sundowns squad that won the DStv Premiership title for a record 11th time in the history of the club’s existence.

The Bafana Bafana striker is now relishing the chance to start the new campaign after having already reported for pre-season, after a two-week training camp at the University of Pretoria (Tuks).

“It’s always good to be hungry as an individual, but not only for myself but also for the team as well as for us to win things and to contribute again. We want to try to build on last season and to try to add more to the cabinet in terms of silverware,” Erasmus told his club’s official website.

“I’m excited and I can’t wait, it’s been a good start to pre-season and we are all looking forward to [the new season].

“It’s important to take a break and recharge, sometimes the season takes a toll on you with all preparations and all the travelling week in, week out. It’s always good to relax your mind from the game and spend time with your family. Some of us had a few niggling injuries to take care of, so it was a good time for us to get that break and take care of those things that could help us play the season without it being halted for us.

“I went to Holland to see my kids and spend time with them. We got to go to Disneyland and they showed me all the things they like to see. It was a great experience for me being able to see them after such a long time. I’m happy, my mind is refreshed, mentally I’m good and physically I’m working on trying to get back to that level again and trying to be better than I was last season,” concluded Erasmus.
