Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has downplayed his heroic performance that saw his side earn their place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The SuperSport United goalkeeper played a vital role for Bafana after he saved four penalties against Cape Verde in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

South Africa are now set to take Nigeria in the last four when they meet at the Stade de Bouaké on Wednesday.

Williams has praised his side’s performance and their resilience to grind out the result which secured their place in the semi-final.

“After seeing the players run for about 130 minutes non-stop, it was my turn to stand up and do my part.

“I’m happy it went our way but ultimately this is a team sport. I don’t like to take credit because they fought just as hard.

“So, reaching the semi-finals here means we did it together.”

Bafana Bafana against Nigeria is set to kick off at 7pm.
