Orlando Pirates extended their winless run to 4 matches with a 1-1 draw with Royal AM on Thursday and midfielder Linda Mntambo admitted its not good enough for a big team like Pirates to go so long without three points.

Pirates went behind in the 32nd minute of the ecounter as a mix up at the back saw Levy Mashiane break the deadlock for Thwihli Thwahla, but Mntambo snatched the equaliser for Pirates just before the break.

Despite creating chances in the second stanza, Pirates were unable to provide the killer touch and were forced to settle for a point.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the game MNtambo admitted that his side needs to get back to winning ways.

“Firstly thanks to the Almighty for granting us the opportunity to grace the field with our talents, glory to him. Coming to the game I think we played against a strong opponent,” Mntambo said.

“We created a lot of chances in the first-half where we should have buried them, they played first, I think it put us under pressure, the plan for the game was to get all three points.

“We have not been winning, even in my past interview I said it, we need to get points, where we are at the moment we’re not even in the chasing pack, even though it’s still early in the season but teams are getting points. Even for us, it is of paramount importance that we start collecting maximum points.

“We can take the positives into the next game where we’re creating opportunities, we’re getting into goal-scoring situations, I think we can take those positives into the next encounter.

“But for us I think we need to go back to the drawing board and make sure that we win. I don’t know how many games now without a win, it’s disappointing now for a big team like us, we have to win.”

“In the game I didn’t start well but I grew in the game as the game went on, luck was also on my side, it was a cross but it went on to be a goal. No, it was not intended but I think I can build on that. Work more off the field, follow the coaches’ instructions, just stay humble and stay grounded,” he added.
