Cape Town City boss John Comitis says that his team are targeting a top-four finish heading into the final few games.

City are currently sixth and will need others above them to drop points if they are to achieve their target.

Comitis is looking for a good showing against their next opponents Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneer’s are four points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in second and still have an outside shot of winning the league.

The Cape Town City boss, however, is confident heading into their last home game of the season.

‘I think we’ll have a fantastic turnout,’ Comitis said. ‘We do very well against the big clubs – it’s the smaller events that worry me because the level of commitment seems to drop, thinking that it’s a lot easier, but it’s not.’

‘For the Pirates game, the league may very well be over, but we need to be persevering for maximum points so that we can end up in the top four, as that’s my ultimate goal here.’

The Cape Town City owner also laments his side’s lack of goals this season, ‘People want a winning team, let’s not misunderstand that, so we have to keep winning. Not being able to score more than a goal a game is certainly troubling me, but I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Judas [Moseamedi] this season. We got a little taste of [Masoud] Juma, which is positive for the season to come. And bear in mind [Matthew] Rusike started out the blocks with a great headed goal, but then got injured. So we’ve been a bit unfortunate but hopefully, by the start of the new season, we’ll have our arsenal in place.

‘There won’t be many changes, as they are a number of players who are only stepping up now, and I’m hoping to keep everyone together.’

Benni McCarthy’s team take on Milutin Sredjovic’s men at the Cape Town Stadium today, with kickoff set for 3pm.
