Kaizer Chiefs has issued a warning about fraudulent activities and impersonators who are using goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune’s name to scam people out of money.

The Glamour Boys confirmed that the fraudsters were approaching innocent people and asking them for donations to sponsor soccer tournaments in the Eastern Cape.

The Soweto giants released the following statement:

‘Members of the public are warned against a fraudulent activity that is making rounds using the names of Kaizer Chiefs players and officials.

‘Kaizer Chiefs is aware of this and would like to alert the public about the impersonators who are masquerading as Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

‘This fraudulent act has reared its ugly head in the Eastern Province. The modus operandi includes the conmen approaching prominent people and asking them for donations to sponsor soccer tournaments.

‘In other cases, the conman uses Khune’s hacked numbers to request people to assist him [Khune] as a ‘player’s agent’ to create opportunities for youngsters to play for Kaizer Chiefs Development.

‘For the record, Itumeleng Khune is not operating as a player agent and is currently not hosting or assisting anyone to lobby for donations of any kind.

‘The matter is under investigation and we trust soon the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to justice.’
