Arsenal booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals following their 2-0 victory over Sutton United at the Borough Sports Ground on Monday evening.

The Gunner got off to a good start in the early exchanges of the match with Mohamed Elneny’s prodded through ball found its way into the path of Walcott. The England forward burst clear of his marker but he had judged offside in the build-up.

In the 18th minute, Sutton had a huge penalty appeal when Eastmond made his way past Monreal but he took a tumble as he neared the byline but referee Michael Oliver decided not to award a penalty.

However, Arsenal took the lead in the 26th minute when Lucas Perez cut inside from the right and delivers a low cross-cum-shot across the face of goal, putting the ball through the legs Worner to make it 1-0.

The Gunners came close to doubling their lead in the 30th minute when Walcott tried his luck from the edge of the area but the ball swerved upwards and just over the crossbar.

The match went into the half-time interval with Arsene Wenger’s side taking a 1-0 lead heading into the second half.

Sutton came close to levelling matters in the 52nd minute when Gomis twisted and turned in the Arsenal area, displaying superb strength, pace, balance and footwork to make his way around two defenders before getting his shot off but his effort was blocked by Monreal.

However, the Gunners eventually doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Walcott’s strike to find the back of the net to score his 100th goal for the Gunners.

Sutton came close to reducing the deficit whenMay found space in the area before picking out Biamou, whose strike was directed straight at Ospina in the 58th minute.

A minute later, Deacon sent a sublime cross, which was guided inches over the head of Biamou but Gomis was waiting at the back post to head the ball but he was denied by Monreal.

Sutton were on the attack again in the 66th minute when Deacon unleashed a pile-driver from the edge of the area but his effort could only rattle the woodwork.

Arsenal came close to adding a third goal in the 81st minute when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain produced an effort at goal but Worner was on hand to deny the midfielder before Alexis Sanchez saw his chipped effort parried wide of the target.

The Gunners managed to hold on to their 2-0 lead until the final whistle to book their place in the quarter-finals in the FA Cup.
